Is the previous body style lighter than the new one?
Don't know, someone with knowledge will say. My weight at the track, 3600 lbs.

Yes your modded ssei may beat a stock GXP. I mean even my truck can smoke the tires but it wont beat my car.
Quite simply a stock SSEi will take a stock GXP stop light to stop light or even stop light to the second stop light because of the low down torque provided by the supercharger. The northstar doesnt even begin to breath until 5000 rpm and by that time your toasted by any boosted car. From a roll is a complete different story however.

The higher gearing helps the GXP tremendously but consider you have higher gears, 2 more spark plugs and more displacement and still run about the same in the 1/4. The northstar in the Bonnie GXP should have been the LS4 that is in the Grand Prix GXP. Pontiac'* lack of commitment to the Bonneville line showed in its last offering.

I think the Bonnie GXP is an AWESOME cruising car and offers something in the way of performance but as anyone who has driven both will probably tell you, the SSEi has a certain jene se qua about it that just makes it more fun to drive, even if it is stock.

BC is like city hall. You cant fight city hall and am tired and give up.
Don't get me wrong, the GXP is probably the best built Bonneville in terms of luxury and crusing but it isnt what it could have been for sure, and its paint problems, low gas mileage and high sticker price show that GM wasn't interested in making it a keeper.

I like the GXP, I like driving it, I like its style and comfort but to me the SSEi was the luxury with attitude. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and me stating mine doesnt mean everyone feels that way. Its not like your wrong and I'm right or vice versa.

I am by no means "city hall"

Enjoy your rides, no matter what they are.
