It very well could be. Won't know for sure until sometime tomorrow afternoon or Wednesday morning. Tonight I'm going out to dinner to celebrate 31 years of survival. But here is what is known:
1) OIl pressure is good.
2) Noise goes away at idle. Noise is NOT on schedule. It happens when it wants, and how hard it wants.
3) Don'* #1 engine did the exact same thing. That was the whole reason he changed it.
Spoke to both Will and his male parental unit last night. It wasn't a good conversation...never is when you break news like this to anyone. Nobody really knows where to go from this point IF the motor really is toast. My SSEi will not be moving under its own power anytime soon, so the bay is full until I can get the new PCM and the rest of the wiring installed.
There is ONE possibility left... it'* going to take ALOT of wrench time to do, and it'* an absolute last resort.
Welcome, downwardly mobile yuppies, to the dawn of the Age of Nefarious.
1993 SSEi - FrankenJinx - dead and gone.
1994 SSE (136K strong) - 180* t-stat,HD alternator, most unequipped SSE on the club, XM radio, Kenwood CD/MP3.
2006 Chevy Malibu Maxx LTZ - Custom 2.25" manifold-back exhaust w/FM-80. Probably the only Maxx with this system.
