Front Tie rods
Just got back from the dealer today after an oil change. While on the hoist we checked out the front steering. Seems the car needs a left front outer tie rod already. The car has under 40,000 miles on it (2000 SSEi), but I do a lot of hard driving and cornering. Does this seem about right to you guys for life span? Seems to be a bit pre-mature to me for replacement already. My '94 didn't need any for over 100,000 miles!

I agree, you can never tell when a part will fail. Not so sure about the replace in pairs.
Game...why in pairs? This isn't on the idea like a headlight where some people replace both at once because the other side is expected to fail very soon? Different amounts of defects are in each part.

alignment job is necessary since one is required for the proper fix. Here in Canada the cost of the job is about $300 cdn including the alignment and labour and parts. You guys in the states have it made with your $20 tie rods! Ours are $61 cdn each! Labour shop rate is $70 cdn / hr!

Umm tie rods are $60 or so here... I would know. I had to replace one...
I got a $100 USD alignment. It'* good for 3 years. I can get it aligned at anytime. Much better value then the $70 one, especially when struts will happen at some point.
