Default Dexos Oil For new Gas & Diesel engines?

http://centerforqa.com/gm/dexos1-brands
Ok this is news to me, I see in link above approved oils listed when u click on link for either Dexos 1 or Dexos 2 oils etc....
Must be something recent in last few years so if u dont use their oil they void your warranty...
I guess I would have known about it if I bought a new car or something with a GM diesel....
Those in the know fill us in will ya...

Dexos, it'* a pay to play scheme that GM is using to bilk money out of lubricant manufacturers. Every time you see the Dexos logo you paid more for it because GM gets a kickback from the oil companies for the right to use the logo.

This is surely confusing, does GF5 rating cover it? -NO!
BG Products, Inc.
Dexos1 vs GF4 and GF5 specs: http://www.graffbgc.com/Dexos1.pdf
In other words if u own a new GM now and dont want to buy the real GM oil, u surely must select from the approved list or really do some homework to find out what the spec really is about.
So Dexos1 is for gas engines and Dexos 2 is for diesel engines: Dexos 1: What is This New Motor Oil Spec from GM?
0w-20 where is this going? AGCO Automotive Repair Service - Baton Rouge, LA - Detailed Auto Topics - GM dexos oil, New Standard or Shakedown?
I think Dexos is going to scare people away from new GM vehicles.
I think it is just a semi syntetic blend GL5..woh.
Pennzoil Synthetic Blend SAE 5W-30 dexos1

that one says they get 1000 per license and 36 cents per gallon, im sure that works out to alot of money for essentially breaking the law and mandating we use a certain oil for warranty. hopefully one of the other oil makers will sue them before it becomes a problem for normal people to get warranty work. i can see it now, all the dealer has to say when you have an engine failure is you used some other oil must be

If you have the oil changes done at the dealer...
"No need to worry as we use the right Dexos oil the salesman says"

If something does not get done soon about this protectionism, I can see other makers following, to ensure profit and warranty approved oil service by the dealership$ !

Default Dexos 1 Blend

Could someone tell me why G.M. puts in Dexos 1 Blend synthetic oil in the latest new engines, Instead of 100% synthetic Dexos 1. Is it cost? Or maybe it is better for break-in. I will be doing my own oil changes & will switch to 100% synthetic Dexos 1 oil when I get to that point. Any problem with this plan? Thanks.

Possibly someone can explain what constitutes a true full synthetic motor oil.
Is Dexos1 really a full synthetic ...or blended?
ACDelco dexos1 Full Synthetic Motor Oil | ACDelco
According to the links I posted it well exceeds all GL5 by great margins and includes better wear, less consumption & way better cold flow and aeration properties. Add in molybdenum and base 4 stocks, sound like a great oil but expensive.
Any of the approved Dexos 1 oil will meet the new GM specs.
See post 1 for the approved list of certified (royalty paid) brands of Dexos 1.

The dexos1 spec does not require it to be synthetic. AC Delco has synthetic blend and thats all the dealers are installing.

The use the synthetic blend because it cost less, plain and simple.
