I use the larger PF-52 (or equivalent) in my Olds as well. Just be carefull as some cars using the larger filter might hang lower than the bottom cross membe and the oil filter may be susceptible to damage if you bottom out the car.

What could advantage could possibly come from using a bigger oil filter, with the exception of maybe an extra 200 mL of capacity?

the larger filter won't hang down a whole lot more, slightly more media inside for filtration..maybe better filter life? Ive always used the 3800 filters..the one in there now is a penzoil, thats what the place used last time...(there is only one quick lube place i go to in red deer, excellent service, manager there is awesome to deal with..i get my tranny flushes done there too)

Yeah, I realise it may provide better life, slightly better capacity, I just can't see any real benefit to doing it. Like, I've never had a problem with the Pz-9A (Penzoil number for the filter), so see no reason to change. Anyways, I'm completely open to reasoning, and not suggesting someone shouldn't do it, just trying to figure it out.
