The 92 L27 tends to run hotter as it has no EGR... Tends to either burn valves or crack manifolds...
Once you get it fixed, install a 180 T-Stat

Take a shot of the engine and post it. I'm curious about:
EGR or not?
Aluminum upper intake (one piece upper/lower) or traditional L27 intake?
Magnavox or Delco ignition?
Congrats on the pair!

I don't think it will effect mileage not to have one. Most 1992 3800'* that Were not supercharged, did not have an EGR valve. There have been a few other members on this forum, that have the same problem, one of the exhaust valves burns out, on a higher mileage engine it wouldnt be wise just to replace one valve, or heck, even to rebuild both heads. For 400 dollars though, who cares? worst comes to worse, you get a 3800 out of another car, Series I, Post 1992.

james
ps. does the same go for the series 1 as it does with the series 2 concerning the supercharger?
