Yup, sse1990 is right. I have gotton busted for it oce by the highway patrol and twice by those stupid meter maids. You do have to have it ut most city cops won't bother you over it unless they are looking to get you on something.

i think the law is such b.*. i was driving in my small hometown last week and saw a state patrol car parked outside of his house. yep thats right ...NO front license plate. could he technically give you a ticket if he was breaking the law also?

another thing......how many new cars.......lets say, lexus for example, have front license plates?? i guarantee you that since they don't look like punk kids they don't get bothered.

i hate the system

I just got busted last night for not having one. The cop said bring in a receipt that shows you bought a LP holder and they'd dismiss it. I'll probably just bring in my old holder. But I'm NOT putting it back on my bumper. If anything I'll tie some straps through the holes and tie it around the bumper somehow. I don't want any holes in my bumper.

How much of a fine has anyone paid before for this charge?

I'd say 50% of all C5 Corvettes DON'T have plates on the front. I know my parents don't have one on. And I see a TON of ppl everyday that have them propped on the dash. That'* good enough, IMO.

That'* exactly why I'm not putting it on!! I'm painting my "SSE" on the bumper gold soon. I don't like the front plate on mine. I don't know exactly what the law says here, but my plate is more viewable in the windshield, since it'* at eye level to a cop driving by anyway. And it'* wedged in the seam in the dash so it wouldn't cut my neck off in an accident. I'd have to be going 70mph and hit a parked car for that to have a SLIGHT chance of happening.

I'm still not drilling holes in my bumper. NO cop is going to tell me to do that. I'll find a temporary way if anything and hang it on the bumper. It'* my car, my decision if I want to deface it by putting holes in it. (Yeah it may be the law, but I'll get away w/ it )

On mine, there are 2 holes (factory, no drilling required) on the underside of the bumper cover center, suitable for mounting a front plate. I just bent the top 1 inch of the plate 90 deg. and then mount it there, just below, and kind of tucked in behind, the SSE stamped on the cover.

I think I know what you mean. I should have those holes too. I may do that, but I don't know if I want to bend my plate. I guess it'* not a big deal.

Hey, when you live in a place like the People'* Republic of Minnesota or New York, you have to put up with crap like that. Maybe they have that law because your taxes aren't high enough.
