For some of you 4x4 owners like the Blazers and S10'*, a quick check of the transfer case and diff fluids is a must. And testing out the 4x4 now is a good idea too.

That is a good tip Mike on the diff & transfer case reminder.
I would add drain them gear oils & transfer case once a year.
Know exactly what your requirement specs are in lube etc too.
I also like to lube the linkage on my jeep & spray the bushings and rubber cv boots too with silicone lube spray.
On a side note I just used the silicone spray on the park ave. The drivers window was soo slow going down and really sticky when wet. I used the silicone spray on the rubber seals around the window and WOW does it slide down easy now !
Just a bit of glass cleaner after moving it up down a bit.
Seems like I got a new motor now!

For Winter, I like to have some herb food bars and some trail mix along with a short handle shovel, some sand, jumper cables, a blanket, some Lucas fuel treatment, a crank flashlite, duct tape, pliers, mechanics wire, adjustable wrench, a cell phone charger, window sweeper, ice scraper, a 12 volt air compressor, a spare tire with enough air and a prayer.

Doh, I knew I forgot to check one tire when I aired them up for winter, I'll have to check that spare ASAP!

My spare was down 10 psi, and good idea to have a small compressor in trunk too.
The emergency spare are often smaller in diameter than your normal tire.
I also carry a plug and glue kit in toolkit to possibly repair the full size without a change.

Not only is it a good idea to check your spare, but depending on how long its been for some cars(depending if you have the plastic cover spin nut) you want to unscrew that cover nut and put some anti-sieze on it. Mine was siezed up last winter. I ended up destroying the plastic screwy thingy.

Bumpy bump bump. It'* the time of year again folks!
I've said it earlier in this thread, but I'll mention it again. With the fluctuations of temperatures, it will cause battery connections to loosen up giving weak connections. Throw a wrench on them real quick to re-torque them.
