Default coolant lines on throttle body

I have an 89 le and i removed the throttle body and cleaned it the other day. I was wondering why they ran the antifreeze through the bottom of it. It comes out next to the thermostat housing and back into the intake just above the gasket between the intake and block.

Anyone know why?

I would guess to warm the air before entering the intake for the EPA

It'* to keep your throttle plate from sticking in icy conditions.
