motor swap
my little brother whos 18 has a 1993 chevy s10 reg cab 2wd with the 4 banger that runs like **** i told him to let me put a 350 in but then i got to thinking a 2400 pound truck wit an 18 year old kid and 300+hp not a good combo so i am thinking of getting a rwd 3800 out of a camaro and supercharging it or finding one that is already supercharged(ive found 2) i am just curious what you guys think i think itd be interesting and pretty quick while still geting him decent gas milage but not being to much power for him to handle

I kinda agree with Raptor, but you have to look at it both ways. How far does he want to mod this engine? Performance parts for Chevy 305'* and 350'* are found everywhere, when the parts for 3800'* are not as readily available. IMO, turn it into a sleeper with a 350.

That'* asking for trouble. I would never put that much power in the hands of an 18 year old kid. My cousin who is now 18 drives a GTP but he knows how to drive a lot better than most kids I've seen at that age. Getting that same power in a RWD car so light with a rear end that weighs absolutely nothing would be a recipe for disaster.

well the problem is .is that the 350 i have in my barn isnt quite strock or even close to it and he is a very cocky risky driver and after talking to the wife ive come up with either just a stock 3800 or a 4.3 vortech

a stock 3800 has 200 hp, way more than that 4 cylinder. So whatever engine you dicide to use he'll think it'* much much faster anyways. Does it have an auto or a stick? a 3800 with a 5 speed can be very fun to drive...

If he'* got a 93 Chevy, find him a stock L27 (Series 1 3800). 170hp/225lb-ft. Might be easier than a Series 2 3800 because you won't have to swap everything over to OBD2, which can be a wiring challenge to say the least. That, and L27'* are dirt cheap. Trust me, its plenty fast and more than enough power.
