Also if I can get a few things payed off I may be going on and replacing the camshaft withing the next few months. I will be very careful with the gaskets so I can reuse them along with the timing chain and gear. I will just buy the other gaskets for the timing chain area along with some lube for the camshaft. I am just hoping it won't hurt those bearing for the camshaft because I don't want to half to replace them.

Sounds like one of the injectors wasn't getting a firing signal due a break in the wire. Glad you found the problem.

It would be interesting to cut open you oil filter to see if there is any metal shavings in it. Depending on what you might find, it could give you some idea of how bad the bearings, cylinders, etc might be.

Well I had the last oil filter cut open and the friend of mine pulled the oil filter and showed it to me and the oil filter still looked brand new even after having about 1,700 miles on that filter. So I am thinking that if I replace my camshaft my engine noise problems should go away.

Was that filter on the car prior to doing the new top end??

Because THAT filter is the one that will tell the story on what has circulated through the engine.

No that was the other filter before I did the upper end. I changed the oil after I did the work so I will check it in about 1500 miles I guess when I replace the oil half way threw the life of the oil.

Well that'* a good sign, at least you didnt find large shaving/bits of metal.

I'd check your filters from now on and maybe affix a strong magnet to them (though it won't pickup copper or brass). Metal particles can be the first sign of a problem.

Hope all goes well for you.
