Default Sunvisor slipping on vintage car....

How do I stop this?

I have a 1965 convertible. One side (the outer side) of the visor is screwed to the top of the window frame and is part of the hinge that holds the top in place. The other side (in the middle of the windshield) is just a holder - no clip.

I replaced the stripped screw in the hinge hoping to tighten the visor but it still slips easily. I don't want to strip the new screw (bolt, actually) or worse, the hinge by tightening it any further!

I presume that something inside the hinge is worn out but I can't separate the hinge from the actual visor! There'* a slit that I am trying to widen but, man, is it tough! They built them solid in those days!

Any ideas? Can I somehow spray something in the hinge to make it grip properly? Use powdered cleanser?

There has to be a way!

Thanks!

I guess the proper term is "Sun Visor Mounts".... not hinge.

The screw is ok - incredibly tight - but it still slips. Might try some clear Silicone.... thanks!
