How much to replace rear bumber cover
Bonny got rear ended. Cracked the rear bumper cover. The person who rear ended me insurance company states to bring to their shop and they will estimate and cut me a check. I likely will not fix- just pocket the check as damage is not easily seen (but definitely there). I am sure they will tell me car too old for new bumper, just to patch the crack (which I will not accept).
Ball park on how much to replace rear bumper cover and paint??

Ballpark?
What did I spend for my bumper cover 2 years ago at the yard. $40?
Paint. Chances of finding a cover that matches your color? Slim to none. Your gonna have to sand and paint the whole cover. Maybe a pint, depends on the color, maybe $25, special primer for plastic, not sure, maybe $20. Clear coat, 1 gallon your spending $50, and the hardener for the clear, about $10.
The cheaper way, about $30 for supplies. Sandpaper, and a couple cans of premix paint and clear from Autozone.
Danthurs just fixed his front bumper cover. He can eloborate more on the plastic primer stuff.

Morad Parts has used rear bumper covers for $150. Bumper City has OEM reconditioned ones for $229.
Figure an additional $20 for new fasteners.
You still need to get them color matched and painted, which you can call around and get quotes on.
That should get you in the ball park.

Thanks for the reply. I worded my question poorly. I am trying to figure out what a legitimate body shop would charge an off the street customer to replace and paint a rear bumper cover. I know the number is simply a guesstimate.

Give a nearby one a call or drive in. Tell them you have an OEM cover and need to have it painted to color match.
