Default stupid noob question....

hey, when i was changing my fluid/filter on my trans, i noticed that i have two lines going from the tranny to the radiator. Im guessing that means a tranny cooler? is this an option on SSEi'* or is it standard? :?

Automatic transmissions usually use the radiator to cool the tranny fluid. There is a "cooler" in the tank on the radiator. Some even add an additional cooler infront of the radiator and put it in series with the cooler in the radiator.

Don't think of that passage in the radiator as a cooler. It'* really nothing but a pre-warmer.

The 'core' is a straight piece of pipe within a smaller pipe, and the trans fluid flows between them. It'* a very small passage only 6 inches long or so. Not effective at all, and yes, all cars here have it.

It'* good practice to bypass it entirely after a trans failure. It can be plugged with debris very easily. Go with an external cooler at that point.
