Default Great Company! (Maybe not such a good company!)

I dont know if this was already posted somewhere else but I recently upgraded to ceramic brake pads and came across this company http://www.cdiautoparts.com/ and they seemed to have some really cheap prices and really fast shipping. Rock Auto had the same pads for $55 plus shipping and this company had them for $44 plus shipping just for an example. They sell ac delco and motorcraft parts so if you are looking for ac delco check them out. I ordered my pads Thursday afternoon and got them Friday afternoon.

Ok this is gonna be long

1st. I ordered some AC Delco ceramic brake pads that Rob (ReallyAGXP) recommended to me part #17D818CH. I do a search and find that rock auto sells them for $55 so I do a little more research and find this company cdiautoparts sells them for $44. So I go to their website and type in 2004 Pontiac Bonneville with the 4.6l engine and a list of brake pads come up and there they are part #17D818CH. This is on Thursday or last week and I receive my order last Friday, so I'm like WOW thats fast shipping.

Fast forward to last night

I go to install these pads on my car and find that they are too small for my car. So now I'm pissed because I also ordered some new rotors from rock auto and I have to put the old pads on my car.

2nd. I write the company an email last night and I didn't hear anything this morning so I call them. The guy tells me that I ordered the wrong part that part #17D818CH is for the SE And SLE models and trys to think of what is fair for the company. He suggests that since it is my fault for ordering the wrong parts that I pay for return shipping and upon arrival he will refund me the price of the purchase minus shipping. So he wants me to be out $19?

So here is the email I get from them after I say that it isnt my fault that 2 other websites including the manufacturer have these listed for my car and that maybe either AC Delco or their company packaged the wrong pads in the right box.

Chris,

If you look at the application in our catalog and scroll down until ceramic brake pads you will see the 17D1019ACH listed with GXP clearly under that part number. The 17D818CH is listed first, but that is for SLE, SL models. The 17D818CH'* are not boxed wrong, but do not fit a GXP Model. When you put your order through the internet I will personally match these two part numbers to make sure the 17D1019ACH are a different size than the 17D818CH. Unfortunately the AC-Delco.com website is owned by GM and not run by Circle Distributing. My catalog comes from a different automotive supplier. I am sorry that you got the number off sites with different cataloging.

Thank you,

I responded by saying that this is not my fault I didnt ask their catalog to show me parts for the SE and SLE and that I had someone who ordered these specific pads for his car of the same model recommended them. I said that what would be fair for BOTH of us is that I'll pay return shipping for a full refund of my money. I don't think it is fair for me to be out $19 plus if I order the parts that he says do fit I have to pay that shipping!

Some places will charge you a restocking fee also.
If you paid with a credit card, you could try to resolve it with the card company.

Yea it says on the invoice that as long as i return them before 10 days they dont charge a restocking fee. But now he is telling me that he will refund me my my full amount if I order the parts again. If I dont order them then he will refund my money minus shipping.

Sorry for your problem. Rock Auto has a great following on this forum for a reason. I have had very good luck with them, and their parts are very reasonably price. Sometimes the best deal is not always based on lowest price.
