Default looking at 94se. Help please

94 se green
252k highway miles
garaged
has every maintenence record(changed oil every 3k)
looks to be in good condition
price $999.

whats the story on these? the guy seems to have his stuff together and is a very nice older gent. he has a 96 with 175k.

he says he has no problems. What should i look out for when i drive it? any major problem areas? are they reliable? are repairs expensive?

is the mileage a major issue. its obviously well cared for, but is it just too many miles

im using this car as a winter/daily driver.

Tell him you'll give him 900.00 and save up for a rebuild!

i don't need a 280 winter car. thats what the cobra is for.

if i needed a rebuild, i would just sell it and buy a different car

In that case it'* not for you. Leave it to an enthusiast. Just my opinion.

why, its a high mileage cheap used car. If it needs a rebuild, i will sell it to an enthusiast. who knows maybe i will like it so much that i become and enthusiast.

btw, how much is a quick and dirty rebuild?

Wouldn't be any more than a typical OHV 6cylinder. Pretty cut and dried. The top end of these things are pretty simple to work on. The Buick 3800 that we use is tough. If the rings are good, and you're only talking down to the heads, I'd risk it. Do a compression check first, wet and dry. If wet is good, and dry is iffy, buy it with one thing in the back of your head......that'* alot of miles, even for a 4T60-E Trans. THAT'* where the money comes in.

I've heard of these things going longer than that 94 has, but it'* a car-to-car thing. Some will, some won't. Make sure you check for oil leaks under the lower intake, and ask about coolant loss.
