Default Bonnie Addiction: How addicted are you?

It'* a horrible thing. From the first time I drove a Bonne I was addicted to the power and options that were strewn about the cockpit.

While I tell people upfront that I assume no responsibility for their addiction or license when they get behind the wheel...I do let nearly everyone drive it.

Here'* a quote from the latest club member to drive the car.

Entitled :"D@MN YOU!"

I was after one from the time the SSEi came out in 92. Always wanted one. Wife hated the look. Even though neither of us had ever driven one.

So I divorced her and bought two.

(katie, that'* not the REAL reason)

Ever since August of 2001 since I got my first one. But when I was a very young kid I remember my cousin got a 92 SE, white, and that always stuck in my head (I have a good memory). I don't even think I knew what kind of car it was at the time, but I liked it.

So in '01 I got my first 94. It was the best, most reliable, problem-free car I've ever owned to this day.

I got jealous of the boosted guys and decided to go with the Ei in 06. I can't tell you how good it felt to be in a Bonneville. It had been 2 years since I drove one at that point, and I felt right at home.

I had been jealous of the S2 guys for years, so I finally decided to get one this year.

How addicted am I you ask? It'* hard for me to think of driving something other than a Bonneville after this '03. I may get another '03 in a few years!

I was addicted in 91 when I bought the 90 SSE. It had an amazing dash, great gas mileage, a lot of room inside and comfortable. I drove it over 400,000 klm. I'd slept in it among other things; unfortunately Cath told it was time to let it go when it got close to 500,000 klm. I knew it still had so much life left in her but I think Cathy started getting a little jealous since I was so attached to her that she told me it'* time to let her go................................................ .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ......... Sorry I just needed a moment. Ok back to the topic. I ended up getting a great deal on a 95 SSEi and the rest is history. I'm hopping in 5 years that I'll find a great deal on a 2003 SSEi.

Thanks for listening folks.

Heck, I was in a ricer potential 90 Eclipse before buying my 94 SSEi. I was forced to sell because when I got custody of my son, I moved to an Emission State and my 90 wouldnt pass, so I go on craigslist looking for something within my price range. I saw my 94 Bought from a former BC memeber) made an offer, and before I knew, I was in Boost heaven. At the time it was fast for me since I went from a four cylinder to a 6 with boost, but then as I got to learnin the ropes on the club about how a S2 SC would benefit greatly, I decided to go on the hunt for a newer boosted car. Soon after, I found my 97 Ei and bought it.....Now I dream of the day when I can bolt on a Gen V and put my car into the 12'*

The 88 sse came out the year I got my 1st teaching job after college and I was so pissed that I couldn't afford one. As the years went by and I watched the car evolve, I couldn't go by one w/o staring and imagining myself behind the wheel. I still like the early body style the best though and when I got wind of one in someone'* backyard rotting away, I could not hold back anymore! It was 2 wks before my birthday and I started trying to get hold of the guy who had it, by the time my b-day rolled around I had the deal ready to go at $300. Then I had to tell my wife that was what I wanted and found out that she had other plans for a concert. Looking back, it probably wasn't the best decision as far as my marriage goes, but she did say for better or worse ( or was it for bonne or worse, I forget).

I started out with a $300 '89 SE in my senior year in high schoo with about 180,000 miles. Maroon with grey on the bottom... Man I still miss that car sooooo bad. :( Needed rear ball joints, and an axelshaft, and a windshield, also had a bad miss that I couldn't get rid of for almost a whole year. The miss turned out to be a bad computer not firing the injectors right. Replaced that, then about three weeks later the transmission cracked in half. Replaced that, drove it for about another year then got into off roading and let my mom and brother drive the '89. I got it back about two years later with about 260,000 miles on it and sold it for $300

About three years ago, I was at a friends house and he was doing some mechanic work on a gorgeous red SSEi. I didn't know anything about it other then the fact that I was in love and wanted it..... but of course.... couldn't afford it. About a year later, I had money and it was still for sale. I didn't even test drive it at all, hardly sat in the drivers seat. Traded my '91 Saturn and $1,500 for it. Threw on some new struts and front springs and there she was in all her glory. I drove it for about six months, then we went out for Steph'* 21st birthday and our DD pulled out in front of a Tahoe and my baby was totaled.... ( never turned it in to the insurance though ) It then sat on a piece of outdoor carpet in my woods all winter long untill Valentines day this year. That day, Stephanie and I found out that we were going to be parents. She also decided she was going to trade in her truck for a Trailblazer. I said "OK, as long as I get my car fixed.... IF it is repairable..." Well, you guys know the rest of the story on that one Here it is now, better then ever with a cross country trip under it'* belt and over 197,000 miles on it

WELL, during the cross country trip, ( NEBF ) Stephanie got a chance to ride in / fall in love with 95SLE'* car. Which brings us to the '03

I don't think we were back from NEBF for more then a month and the Trailblazer was traded in for the '03 SSEi. Swaped out the dead front trans mount for a solid hockey puck mount, replaced the cat with a new Magnaflow, gutted the airbox and purchased an INTENSE PCM HELLO BURNOUTS Don't expect to ride with Steph and come back with tires still on the car now

We both LOVE our cars and are totally addicted to them. :P

More mods, both appearance and go fast, will come to both cars

I started with being addicted to the 89-91 SSE'* too.
Never owned one, but always liked them.
Had a friend who had a nice gold one, we all called it "The Boonne" because everyone loved it so much.
I loved my 95, but I would really love to step it up when I get my next one.
Even Mrs. Bump is ready for another Bonne
She grew up with them , and had an 89 SE for a while.
Still can't stop staring at them.
Loved Tim'*, was one of the first to know he bought it. My dream car, really, a Black 99 Ei.
Drove Tony'*, also loved it. Then Bill'*.
Now, I can't stop thinking about em.
SO really it was a joint effort between Tim, Tony and Bill, now I will not be happy til I have a 12 second 96-99 Ei.
Thanks guys

it didnt start with a bonneville but it was a 3800. I was driving my 91 lumina and a buddy had a 89 leSabre boy did he kick my but in a couple of (well you know )

except I use to call his car a grandma car . Well the lumina died and I was shopping around. Found a 97SE white of course. never thought about them before.
took her for a couple of test drives and remembered my buddy'* power he had.
except it was a series 2 instead.and sporty looking.
he said if his car was a grandma car I must have a grandpa car.

4 days after I bought it I seen a 2000 SLE and said to myself wtf is that.

I loved it. but just bought mine. so 2 years later I traded her in for my 2000 SLE
