Curse of the black????
Well, if I remember coirrectly there'* been at least one other black Bonneville owned byone of our members involved in some sort of accident recently. Well today I went and joined the ranks.
Well, went up to the local wash-it-yourself wash and since there was a line-up I had to pull outside to dry the car off. Just started drying the car off when a guy backs out of the wash in a Suburban with a lift kit. I'm like yelling at the top of my lungs "STOOOOOOPPPPPPPP!!!!! HHHHOOOOLLDD UUPP!!!!!" to no avail.
CRUNCH!! I felt so useless. I was just getting the car cleaned up for tonight since I was taking some friends out for one of their birthdays. Now I feel like **** cause I have to ask one of them to drive. The car is driveable, but I don't really want to drive it around looking like this.
Was planning on putting the CAI, Taylor Spiro Pro wires, NGK TR55 spark plugs and fresh Mobil 1 oil and Fram X2 filter on when I got home from the wash (had already turned the heaters on in the garage before I headed up to the wash). Now I can't because the damaged fender is rolled over the edge of the hood.

That sucks, Martin. Insurance?
I had the driver'* side of my car peeled by a dodge ram last year. He couldn't even SEE my car. His nephew was a great body guy, so they did a fantastic job. Cut no corners. 2 new door skins, and repaired the left quarterpanel. The SSEi badge on Lilpooky'* custom SSEi boombox is the door badge from this episode

Nope, the guy had no insurance. He had just pulled the suburban out of his garage where it had been parked over the winter (he had insured it a couple weeks ago since his other vehicle was in the shop, but since has switched insurance back to his 1987 Monte Carlo). He only lives 1 block from the wash so he thought he'd be safe since it was a low-traffic side street that was between his house and the wash. What makes it worse is I know the guy and hang out with him every so often (had just gave him a ride in the 'i' last weekend).
He said he will pay for it all so I just have to find a fender and we are going to put it in his garage for a day and replace the fender and he said he'd top it off by clay-barring the whole car after we install the fender.
Right now I've only found one black fender, but it'* located in Iowa, so I've gotta wait and see what they are asking. Otherwise I did find another black one (off a 1996 SE) that has 1 hours repair needed located at a salvage yard 25 miles away, but I'm going for the good one off the 1999 SSEi in Iowa.

Oh, I have insurance, but i have my deductable at $500, more than the damage would cost to repair and I don't want to report it as my rates would probably go up.

Better be on his butt to get that fixed and make sure he keep his word. I had my 97 for 3 months before my first accident. A blazer with no insurance decide to cut me off, and clipped y left bumper. Then 7 months later a jeep backs into me because he missed the light in the turning lane and his spare tire hit my hood and dents it. 2 months after that I park my car after washing it and overnite someone hit my mirror and runs off. After that my motor goes at 59303 after my extendeed warrenty goes. I went 3 weeks waiting to get a used motor put in and when it was inished it didnt run the same at all. This was in March. The car would cut off and would be hard to start, take off sucked and the poewer wasn't there. Until the dealer told me to go on the internet and get another warrenty i could get it fixed. So i did that. November they kept the car until they fixed everything. Catalitic Converter, all the sensors, fuel pump and it ran like NEW!!!!!. December before christmas the curse started over again. I was on my way to a job interview. Pulled up to the stop light, took off quickly and a block away I see a Tahoe making a U-turn. I am already in the right lane and he goes in the left. He decides to make a lane change without notice and his right tire hits my left 1/4 panel and pushed it to the drivers door making it hard for me to open. DAMN i just got the car fixed and it starts over again. January 2003 its totaled.

You're going to HAVE to open the hood to remove the fender. Try to pull the fender away from the hood edge when you try it. Hope there'* no suspension damage. You're almost certainly going to need an alignment when this is over.
