180* Thermostat and PCM.
So my SSEi is stock performance wise, and for my FIRST mod i was thinking of getting a 1.0 PCM from zzperformance. Now, i do not have any knowledge of what exactly what a PCM does or where its located in the engine.
Ive heard of people sending their PCMs into zzperformance and having them tune it? Would it be better for me to to do that or just to buy the 1.0 PCM and have someone due it for me? How much would it cost for a shop to do this for me?
Also does anyone have any installation guides on how to install a 180* theromostat on a 02 SSEi?

Here'* the write up on the thermostat. https://www.gmforum.com/t278803/
I would suggest going with the PCM from intense-racing over the ZZP one. Intense has a better tune in my opinion. If your car can be off the road for a week or so I suggest sending the PCM in to be flashed. If you install a new PCM you will have to do a CASE learn and you will need a dealer or a member near by that can do a CASE learn.
If we didn't have this lake between us I would say come here and I'll tune you.

Also what exactly is a case learn and how much would it cost for a dealership to do this for me?

Changing the PCM is easy, a few screws, unplug, plug in new one and tighten the screws, done. The real pain will be doing the security learn. I seem to remember it takes like a half hour. As for what a dealership will charge for a CASE learn, I have no idea. You need to find one that even knows what your talking about, and then do it without reflashing the PCM there by blowing away the tune. The CASE learn is needed so the PCM knows where top dead center is.

can you still drive to the dealership with the car or what?
Also is it illegal for them to do the case learn without reflashing the PCM?

So is there a video or photos to show where the PCM is located on a 02 ssei? Also will the car make any weird noises or will lights be flashing etc, because of the case learn?
Does the car dealership have to be pontiac btw?

If I'm not mistaken it'* on the drivers side by the air filter.
No SES lights or anything changing the PCM but like I said you will need to do a security relearn. That will all be covered in the instructions that come with the PCM.
