We paid $18,800 USD for my wifes SSEI (August 2002) it had 20,000 plus miles on it. They also gave her $1400 for her 95 Taurus.

Paid $5000 (Cdn) to my folks for the 91SSE in 2000.
Engine died 4 months after I bought it, so I dropped a brand spankin new one in for $4200. Then misc repairs began.... so startup cost $9200 Cdn.

Paid $10,800 (Cdn) for my 97SSEi in Sept. Cost for the trip to T.O. to get it, and the drive back... plus $1200 Cdn worth of maintaince that it needed when I got back totalled to just under $15,000 Cdn .... (ok.. so a fair amount of that was alcohol stashed in the trunk on the way back from T.O.).... hehe

Don't get me started into repairs for either car... the 91 was a nightmare... I only pray the 97 isn't 1/2 as bad.

They definately got burned they might have got $500 at auction for that car. They were only going to give her $1000 for it but I found that the inside of the trunk was leaking and I was considering not to buy the SSEI. So they "fixed the leak" , put a new trunk pad in and gave us another $400 on her car.
