Default First Bonneville...now Grand Prix, both will be history

It'* official, Pontiac is dropping the Grand Prix name for "G8". What is up with the american car makers dropping all their famous long lasting car brand names.

Old news by almost 2 years. We first heard about the G8 DURING the first year of GXP production in 2004.

It'* been known for awhile that the Grand Prix was going bye-bye, and the G8 would replace both. Frankly, the Bonnie was in a disappearing niche. Large cars have been replace by the crossover and mid-size SUV. It is a shame about losing the great name-plates, and the serial number names just suck, but that'* the way the industry is going.
At least we're finally getting RWD cars again.

I agree John the G8 is a nice looking car. Hope Pontiac sells a lot of them.

The G8 is nice, and the V8/rear-drive combo is good. However, I can't help but feel the design is a little too conservative (I thought they learnt from the GTO?) and it'* a shame it'* not a unique American design.

Ya, i'm not a fan of the G8'* looks either. It looks too much like an old Lexus ES 300. The 2009 Impala SS looks much better plus it may get the new 6.2L V8.
