if your insurance covers custom accessories and such, all you have to do is add in the amount they are worth and the amount will be added to the total you will be given if the car is totalled IIRC.

Have you called your insurance company to ask them what you should do? It can't hurt, because every insurance company is different.

Tracy (SSE14U34Me) will probably be the expert on this, but in my experience, a normal policy doesn't cover mods. Call your agent, tho, to verify and see what can be done.

FWIW, Esurance covers mods, though I don't have enough to really put on there.

x2. thats all I needed to get $1000 more for my car when I had $4000 worth of receipts in the last 2 years. That was only to raise the value of my car to keep it from being totalled however.

It will make no difference with headlights since if you get in a wreck and they are paying for it, they will always go "new" anyway.

That is all you need to do. All records need to be precise. Most insurance companies will keep that info in mind should a claim arise. They even alot for tire wear if you can show that the tires were recently purchased, etc. I've gotten extra from most of Jeff'* many crashes on mods
