Default Allison T63

Considering how small these things are, and the amount of power output, wonder if it would be possible to mate this into my car?

317HP at 35,000 RPM, and it only consumes 0.7lbs of JP-4 or JP-5 an hour at max. and weighs only 136lbs. That'* a considerable weight difference from the iron blocks we have.

Now just have to figure out how to mate that thing to the trans

Yep, goes in the OH-58 Kiowa Warrior. Was one of the engines I use to repair when I spent 8 years in the Army. Blackhawks, Chinhooks, Cobra'*. Heck, even the Abrahms(sp) had the same engine as the Blackhawks.

Chrysler Turbine Car! (I've seen one)

You'd just need a crazy gear reduction before the transmission. Might need something more like a CVT though. Does it operate fine at slower RPM?

It can run at a lower RPM. I know on the OH-58 it has a variable throttle, so it is possible to throttle it back. I'm not sure of the idle RPM, but it might be enough to act like a normal engine. We have been able to lock the rotor blades and run the engine at ground idle(as opposed to fly) and it runs ok. If I recall, the 1 fuel injector it has, cost $500. Just a tad bigger than the average thumb. What sucks is, everytime you get near salt water, you have to do a engine flush. Kinda like running water into your intake. Except these have ports where we hookup fire extinguishers with pressurized water and inject it into the engine while it'* in start mode.

The hell with that, get a diesel, and use that thing to run the turbo. 500lbs of boost oughtta get your motor running.
