Default MAF vs. Gas Mileage

How much are they related? I cleaned MAF again the other day hoping to stop the 'torque converter shudder'. It did nothing whatsoever as far as how it drives, but it REALLY seems like I've been getting better gas mileage lately.

Today I saw I was at 3/4 (usually translates to just above 1/2 tank) and wanted to fill up before gas prices went up AGAIN. Got to the pump, it stopped @ 18 bucks and I was just like ??? it must not be full yet. 'Topped it off' and it started leaking out of the tube... so it was definitely full. I drove 120 miles on 6 gallons of gas (20 MPG ) over the past three days, and I was IMPRESSED. I don't think I've ever done that with all the city driving I do, and I can't keep my foot out of the floor either lol.

Possible gas mileage mods: K&N drop in, Synthetic Mobil 1 5w-30, 35 psi in all four potzena g009s.
