found a 96 SE (probably SLE) for $375...
I found a 96 SE, but it has leather and sunroof, so I am thinking it'* an SLE. Needs a motor and driver'* side tie rod. I can get it for $375 or best offer. It has 175k on it, but it still looks excellent.
Here'* the kicker. The junkyard here has the 00 with the L36 in it and i can get the whole motor for roughly $150-200 After that it is time and some gaskets.
Not, with these prices, I can probably be in it for about $600 or so, and according to all the online price guides, in good condition, with those miles, it'* private party value is $1700 or so.
Do you think it is worth buying and swapping the motor then reselling??
It would require me pulling the motor out of the 00 tonight or tomorrow morning as it will undoubtedly be gone by monday. And getting them both home to do the swap without my parents knowing ahead of time, which might be interesting...

Call the parents on the cell phone and ask.
I'd say go for it with permission. Even if you flip it for $1200 due to the mileage....it'* worthwhile.

Yeah, I would call them, but they will say no instantly. I am going to see if I can get the motor and store it at my work for now, and then see about the car. Haven't heard back from the guy yet on it, but he still has it.
Than who wants to help me swap the motor
