Considering a new car
With the paint primer going on my current Bonne and all the other small exterior defects, I'm thinking about a new car. The $2500 in bodyshop costs makes a nice down payment towards a new car instead unfortunately as much as I love my bonne.
Some of my friends have been trying to get me to lean towards a Passat but I'm thinking of finding a relatively new SSEi or a GXP. I'm 6'7" tall and Bonnevilles are some of the only cars that I found that fit me under $40k. I'm not sure if a Passat would because I never test drove one.
Now I know you're all biased and going say Bonne for sure but maybe I'm biased too

I'd consider a 99 SSEi, I have a certain bias towards those myself. I'm not really all that thrilled with the headrests on the later models... the interior just feels so much more comfy on the late 90'* cars.

I'd try to find a low mileage 96- 99 SSEi, the reason being, more headroom. The 2000+ Bonnies "A" pillars have a very low angle that make it feel as if it'* closing in on you-lower headroom than previous flight Bonnevilles The seats are far better in the 96-99'* also. .02

The Passat is a very nicely driving car from what I gather... but the electrical gremlins that newer VW'* are known for may come back to haunt you. :(
Try a Passat, try a Bonneville (boooooooooooooooost!), make the call from there

The moonroof on the 2000+ takes away about 2 inches of headroom, so you may want to look at one without it. I'm about 6'1, and my head brushes up against the headliner.

You could also go for a Grand Prix GTP I believe its the 98s that has the GTP listed as an option on the GT and not a model. They are similar and have a slightly more sporty feel and you could even get a 2 door if you deside you do not want a have the sadan look.
But I still wish I had my old bonneville with the small problems fixed of corse.
OOH! you could try to get a good deal on a solstice I love them and you have a convertable top so plenty of head room

if I go 97-99 i'm definitely taking the manifold off my current car with me. GTP is a good thought too, I should keep that in mind. Main thing is what type of low interest loan I can get from the parents, that i should find out around thursday or friday.
Hilarious at the solstice. Too bad the size of my legs will be what gets me with that car.
But GTP really appeals to me, ill have to try one if finding a good quality SSEi fails (anyone selling one?). I might also consider the GTO if I want to toss luxury down a pit and go for pure speed.
