Default SSEi Compass problems

I recently got some subs installed ..and ever since my compass repeatedly says " calibrate" ..and it shows no directions at all. Sometimes the directions come up ..but they are completely wrong. Anyone know how to fix this damn thing.

It could be a coincidence, and it just became miscalibrated after time. OR... assuming your subs are high powered and pointing backwards, you are creating too much magnetic interference for the module that is located on the shelf in between the 6x9'*, most likely right above your subs. I could be wrong about the sub direction, I can't remember which way the poles point at the moment, so maybe yours are pointing up, but probably not if you had them installed by a shop. I messed up my compass trying to give it a fresh calibration two years ago when I only had about 300 watts in the trunk. My subs point up and didn't notice any change in the compass readout.

There are directions in the manual to calibrate it, although they may not work with the subs there. I suggest you have the system completely off when you do so. If that doesn't work, you may have to move the module (black box on underside of rear shelf directly between the 6x9'*) to a less magnetically exposed location, just make sure to orient the box in the same manner.

Actually it doesn't matter wich way the subs point at all. It is however the magnets like you were saying. There have been a few posts about people just replacing their 6x9'* with better ones and that alone screwed up the compas. Now look at your subs. The magnets a like 10 times the size. Most people ( and just makes sense) place theur subs under the rear deck so that you still have a somewhat useable trunk.

So don't go out and try turning the subs, if the box that the subs are in is not secured down, try moving it out nad try again I bet your compass will come back. Unless they disconnected the battery when installing the stereo ( usually do) and it just needs to be recalibrated.

I went to your cardomain site and noticed your amp is also right under the module. That might have something to do with it, also.

I figured the sub direction matterd because if they are facing up, the magnets are further away from the box, but that may not matter much. And they do sound better pointing backwards, I know.

I just checked you cardomain page also, the amp won't affect it but that box with the subs will most likely. But I place the boxes in the same place for 2 reasons.
1. gives you some useable space in the trunk.
2. by facing them backwards like that it uses the trunk as a second box and you get much better bass, if you want to know what I mean, try sitting in your car with the stereo on ( preferably middle of the day to not **** off thy neibours, and then pop the trunk.

not sure if they make some kind of magnetic shielding you could use on top of the box, that may help.( just a thought)
