Default Bonny kill

Older story, but a kill none-the-less

First the background:
At the auto show in detroit at the end of my x-mas break my winter car got broken into. I had to take the Mustang up to school for a week or so until I could get the other car (03 taurus) fixed up.

On the drive up north, I was cruising down I-75 just north of Flint. Some Green bonneville SE (looked like maybe a 96 or 97) starts pacing me. I drop from fifth into 3rd (doing about 65) to let him hear my nice loud exhaust. He just kind of grins at me and points ahead. There were no cars for maybe 1/2 mile in front of us. I nod and let him get the jump, I punch it as soon as i can see through his rear windows. 3rd gear goes up to 90, 4th to 135, by about 95 I was a good 5-6 cars ahead of him and pulling away fast. Just thought I'd share a rare street kill of mine with you folks, discuss/flame/insult away

Well, you're talking about a NA Bonneville, so that'* what I would expect with you driving that new stang. It might have had a little different outcome had you been up against an SSEi. Remember also that the SE and SSE/SLE are speed limited to 108mph, unless chipped.

And you thought you'd get flamed!

There! Take that!

Bah, I'm bored on a saturday afternoon, flames keep me on my toes and are kinda fun

This summer, we'll see how I fare against a supercharged bonny.

Speed limited at 108? that sucks, my 03 taurus is limited at 114 (takes about 3 miles to get there though). Is that Rev-limited? Drag-limited? Governer? I assume governor since you said unless chipped. I've burried the speedo on my Stang once or twice, it goes up to 155. that was pretty damn scary.

Too bad you aren't in VA. I happen to have an 98 NA Bonneville that regularly eats Rustangs for a snack. The mother-in-law has a 2003 Mach 1 (traded the 200 V6). I am sorry to say that it cannot hold it'* own against Badzilla. I don't have a speed limiter... 148 is the highest I've had it to as of late. No offense, I've owned my share of Furds that wasted my time. I have no respect for the company or the cars. They do look nice, though, and the one in last month'* Motor Trend is a step in the right direction.

Cmon guys, he ASKED for a flame war! (I do have to admit, he'* pretty cool for a ford). I have a feeling after he meets up with one of our better modded cars, and gets beat, he'll be properly humble and respectful. Comp, yours would have been one of the first cars I would have picked for him!

Well.... I got a buddy who just got a 2000+ Rustang GT Bullit. It'* in storage until spring but once it comes out....

Don't get me wrong, Fords aren't all bad. My dad has a v10 Excursion and I even got a '81 Custom F-150 (Pile of rust but it runs), but I am Pontiac/GM thru and thru

Bah, why do you people call em rustangs? Im just bitchin because I can't think of a insulting name for bonnys :P

Ford made a Bullit in 2001, only year for the 99+ body style. And it'* really nothing special, the bullitt is a GT with a gas door, shifter **** and new intake. 265 Horse instead of teh 260 of the GT yay

A well driven STOCK 2003 Mach 1 hits high 12'* in the 1/4 I'd like to see even a heavily modded Bonneville do that. These bad boys are underrated as far as horsepower, putting out on average around 295 horse/327 torque bone stock. Fear the v-8.

Maybe I'll have to make a trip down to VA and run ya sometime If something is faster than me I'll respect it as it should be, no bones about it. I just don't think a family car cna stand up to a sports car... rusty or not

take it easy guys

OK what are the chances that I'll run into one of them on the street?

I'll leave the bonnevilles alone for now and stick with my diet of Camaro'*, Firebirds, Cadillacs, Lexuses (Lexi?) and the occaisional Porsche. I don't want to discourage to many up and coming bonneville drivers
