Default New owner, with a dangerous mission.. *gasp*

Well, new here... of course. Was just wondering if you could all cross your fingers for me.

I live in Arizona, and cars here are not really cheap, therefore I asked my mother in New York to buy me a nicer, newer car than my current 1988 Honda Accord LX (Which i will be paying for when I arrive from here). She found me a perfect condition, ext, int, and engine all perfect white w/red interior 1992 Pontiac Bonneville SE. Has 173,000 miles on it, however was owned by a mechanic who kept it in pristine(sp?) condition. Also a nearby shop which inspected it said problems were nowhere to be found.

Anyways, on January 27th, 6:20pm I will head to NY from Arizona. Goto sleep at my moms house, then take the huge drive... I think its like 2,000 miles or more... Hope to make it home, frequent rests now and then for the car too so it doesnt explode from overheating and such, lol.

Well, again wish me luck, I could really use it. I hear this is a extremely wonderful car, and I hear owners of this car end up getting the newer ones and such because they are so great. This will be the 6th car I've owned in a period of 2 years. My cars keep breaking on me because I make bad investments on cars that are cheap instead of getting a loan and buying a better one. I hope this car will fullfill a car that down here in Arizona, would be like 3,000 dollars. I'll mention my previous cars and their problems.

1993 Mazda Miata ($2,700 dollars. No problems, sold to mom)
1987 Toyota MR2 ($2,000 - $1,500 in repairs, got a rod knock)
1987 Toyota MR2 ($500 - Engine exploded)
1992 Ford Taurus 4dr ($800 - Head gasket blew)
1988 Honda Accord ($850 + the bad Ford Taurus to a dealer. Car still runs great but I want something better. Am selling this.)

Welp, nice to meet you all

The car will probably do fine. Just keep an eye on the fluids and guages.

The price doesn't sound THAT great to make across the country though!!

Defintally have a compression check ran on that engine, the 3.8 is solid, however the Normally Asperated 3.8'* in the 92 year had issues with burnt exhaust valves. cause of this was the 92 year non supercharged came without a electronic EGR valve, hence cooking exhaust valves. Have it checked, after you get the car, run a 180 degree thermostat in it, and keep up with it well..if a mechanic owned it, hopefully he/she took very good care of it.
good luck

Good luck with your journey. That is a lot of miles to get a 170k car, might want to try looking on the internet for closer ones.

Wow.... good luck with your odyssey......

Why don't you just fly to get the Bonnie?.... that'* what I did.
My flight cost me less then it would have cost in gas and hotels.

Just an idea.....

I think he is flying. Leaving at precisely 6:20 would be odd if he'* driving.

Yes, flying. Cant pick any different cars or run any special tests as of now (the car was already purchased). The compression test might have been run at the shop however. I'll talk with my mom about that, maybe she can get one done before I leave there.
