test-drove a 96 SE today
so i was killing time today near OU campus, and i noticed out of the corner of my eye, a nice blue bonne, looked to be 96-99, nonboosted. so i made a mental note for future reference. after id made a trip to the bank and to my insurance company, i pulled onto their lot and looked at it. up close, it looked like crap. paint was peeling, hella dents and dings that were too small to notice from a distance. i thought "well, thats all cosmetic. hows it run?" so i went into the dealership and asked to test drive it. they handed me the keys and told me to bring it back in under 20 mins please. after verifying that it was indeed a base SE, i drove it about a quarter of a mile, turned around, and returned it. brakes were shot to hell, joints were shot to hell, transmission was very jerky every time it shifted.... i took it back, went in, and they asked me what i thought.
"someone was really mean to that car."
did i mention there was mold in the armrest? 60/40 split, column shifter btw.
i will NEVER buy a car from them... oh, they wanted $4700 for it, with 150k miles.

Sad thing is, some unknowing person wont notice all that, or not know what to look for, and end up paying close to that price for that car.
