And they cost more, and you have to remove them for driving when your lights are supposed to be on. Lotsa light actually transmits thru the VHT, smellbird was very surprised by mine.

the tinted tails don't come off at night...the covers legally are supposed to (i think they are legal during the day)
i had mine tinted before and you can see them just fine at night...just don't get any smart ideas like i did to put leds in the tails to brighten them up...you'll do the opposite

Legal as well as practical issues. How would you like to do that to expensive headlights, only to get pulled over and told to undo it? It also cuts down somewhat on light transmission......where the tails aren't as critical.
I personally want my headlights as bright as legally possible. I wouldn't dream of dimming them by tinting. The tails are totally different. The light is actually absorbed by the VHT, so you can see the tails and brakes when they come on....but those lamps aren't designed to project the light like the headlights are.

VHT in the rear is fine, and it'* not noticeable at night really. Headlights are out of the question. Covers on headlights will need to be taken off, i don't know how well black out covers on the rear transmit light.
