Default The nasty effects of DEXCOOL. Get rid of it!

Ok. So maybe some of you noobs wonder about why we tell you to get RID of your dexcool. Well I was just underhood of my 98 SE and decided to take some pics of what DEX looks like in a non properly maintained cooling system. Now for those of you who say theres no problem because your car doesn't ever overheat or anything, well neither does mine, and this is how it looks. You ready? Small children should look away now.

(Small disclaimer: I've never serviced this car before, so this is not my fault )

Its like...hmm. It smells almost identical to exhaust from an L36 with a bad intake...you know...the smell of sweet exhaust. Nasty. And oh yeah. It burns if you leave it on your skin I noticed.

That'* how my sisters old 97 GP GT looked when we got it. First thing I did was replace the coolant over flow tank, flushed it as best I could at the car wash. Realizing that didn't do the work I took it to a local shop and had them do a proper flush with the correct chemicals, or whatever they use. Never had a problem after that except it used about a cup of coolant every 20,000 miles.

yeah well, as bad as I feel about it being in the condition it is...I'm not even sure if I want to fix it because i don't really wanna keep it...I'm discovering that it has not been very well taken care of. :? You guys are witnessing one major part of that.

I'd write that radiator off. Or do a dozen flushes.
