Yaaaasssss. But luxury car owners don't want to be thrown around when they are driving. That'* why we have vacuum modulators. Have you noticed that when you are just cruising around with light throttle the car doesn't shift quite as firm and slips a little bit if you go from 1/5 throttle to WOT briefly? That'* what it does. You may not notice it, because on your tranny it may be faster, but on mine you can notice it jump up real quick then drop down [usually just a hair on the tach]. Also, when luxury cars are built [i'm not talking our cars.. i'm talking 75k+ BMW, Benz, Lexus, etc..], usually the drivers are not performance drivers [there are exceptions, and a lot of the cars have great power], they just want smooth shifts. But if you ride in a interceptor [can be retired!
] the shifts are instant and extremely firm.
Oh yeah, and toast, your advice on unplugging the vacuum modulator being the same as doing one of those electronic deals, that does NOT apply to the 87-91 [hydraulic] transmissions. Just thought i'd share that. No clue about 92+ though.
