Default seized rotor?

This is for a 89 Olds Cutlass, so figured Id ask in the lounge. Brother in Law bought car after it was sitting for 2 years, needed brakes, both front rotors are stuck to the hub and WILL NOT come off. Gave up for the night, in the morning will be going at it again, any tips or tricks? Dont want to damage anything else in the process. Tried hitting lightly with a hammer, too loud/late, same with backing the rotor up with my impact wrench...

Any help would be nice! Thanks

edit:wrong forum, please move. sorry

Get some lubricant and shoo it all around the hub the best you can, and then beat the ever living **** out of the rotor. Only advise I can really give.

use a hammer on a block of wood. The wood protects you from damaging the rotor... you will most likely have to bang on it pretty hard to get it to release.. so dont be shy!

beat the **** out of them with a hammer, you may break them but they will be replaced anyway.. used to have to do this occasionally when i was working as a mechanic.

Use a propane torch and heat the rotor at the hub (where they meet in the center). That will cause the rotor to expand. You don't need to beat the hell out of anything. Heating it up and doing some tapping will get it free with no issues.

The heating idea would be the more graceful wat to go. Just keep an eye on any fluid of fluid lines around (like brake lines) as some of this can be flamable. Also check to see if the lugs are straight. I had them once on my old truck where the whell hadn't been tighneed down properly and it ended up pushing all the lugs towards the center just a hair. It holds the rotors in when they do that.

Good use of the "don't get mad, get a hammer!" adage
