If your '95 is like my '93, you _carefully_ pull the faceplate surround off the dash (the part that actually encloses the front of the stereo). Hook your fingers in a corner of the opening, pull straight outwards until the spring clip releases, move a few inches along and repeat, until you have released every clip around the perimeter of the cover, and it'll lift off. You may need to unplug some stuff from in back, such as a subwoofer control if you have one.
That reveals a couple of large-ish bolts holding the stereo into the opening. Remove those and the stereo slides out the front, then unplug its wiring harnesses and antenna from the back, and you're done.
Assuming you're putting in an aftermarket replacement, you'll need some sort of nosepiece adaptor kit to mount the new unit in the dash, and you can buy wiring adaptor harnesses as well, which will allow you to plug your new stereo into the existing harness plugs so that you don't have to cut any car wiring (and you can quickly retrofit the original stereo when the time comes to sell the car).

I hate it whenever I have to do this, 'cause I know that if I screw up and have to look in a junkyard for replacements, they'll all be broken the same way...

Not sure why 88-91'* are considered hard. I just pulled the deck and sub amp this evening and I've never pulled any part of the dash before. Was kinda hard pulling the wires from the trunk because my passenger door won't open. I just pulled the carpet from under the plastic door floor cover. Then the wires came out nice and easy. Tomarrow I'm gonna put the deck in my 98 SSEI with the help of a friend. So hopefully tomarrow afternoon gonna have big toons in my car.
