Hey all, i am 15, practically 16, and i am getting a 1992 bonneville ssei. So, i have a few questions about the car and i would like some of your guys' opinions and thoughts on this topic, since you are all bonneville guru'* and know what your talking about quite well. Here are the questions:

1.) First, are there any common problems that cause damage on the Bonneville that should know of before i purchase one.
2.) How easy to maintain are they?
3.) How expensive/cheap to maintain are they?

I hope you guys can supply me with some of these answers, i would really appreciate if you could.

A thing or two to look for.

Does the car stall when the fuel is low and you make a right hand turn? Bad fuel strainer design, cheap part, but it'* in the fuel tank.

Some people think the rear spark plugs are difficult to get to. As far as FWD V6'* go, I think they aren't bad to get to.

Most stuff isn't too difficult to get to.

Depending on the consition of the car, they can be cheap, or expensive. Mine was cheap for a few years, then little things went wrong. Relay, or a fuse, or a sensor of some type. This will happen with any car, though. Unavoidable.

It seems the original tranny will last anywhere from 100000 miles to 200000 miles, typically. How'* this one shift? What'* the mileage?

No major common problems. How many miles are there on the SSEi? The Supercharger coupler may need to be done if you have a rattle at idle, but that'* a do-it-yourself project, for pretty cheap.

Well to begin with, i am from the west side of michigan, PISTONS ALL THE WAY. The car has 160,000 miles on it and from what i know the car has a smooth shifting transmission and thats pretty much it. I have driven a few bonnies and i really love how they ride. I am thinking of buying this one off of eBay, having it shipped part way, and then driving it the rest. Not a bad car, the Cloth seats (RARE on an SSEi) look good, and last longer then leather, it'* got a CD player too, which is very rare.

emblems rebadged in the wrong spot would cause me to think a bit

hmmm, your right, i didnt catch that earlier and i find that a little bit odd as well. Not quite sure what to think about it, is it me or do the tail lights look a little bit tinted, perhaps he just moded it a little bit and felt the emblem looked better a little further up. Another option, he could have been wacked on the side and got some work done and had to move it forward.

it has been repainted...but it doesnt look professional at all

the rear reflectors are now white :? and the exhaust tips look to have white overspray on them.



*edit* and the windshield wiper arms are white...i guess he loved white

Guys, I think what we're looking at here is a re-badged SSE (SC). Supercharge SSE for the newbies. That explains the cloth seats and the badges in the wrong places.

how much do you guys think this bonnie will go for? and do you think that its worth the money? just wondering... its a big investment
