Default window switch voltage question

hello all. just sitting here daydreaming, i had an idea. when i installed my remote start, i did not hook the door locks or trunk up, because doing that would disable the factory alarm and automatic inside/outside lights feature which i appreciate.

my idea was, since pushing these buttons yeilds a solid 12V coming from a wire the entire time the button is pressed, i thought it would be nice to have remote controlled windows. for those days when remote start isnt really needed once the car is the same temp as outside. (for example, hit the remote start then immediately turn it off, enabling the Retained Accessory Power then holding the trunk button to drop the windows)

my question is, do the window switches run off of 12V? could i disassemble the window switch module and solder to the connections going to the down side of the switch?

if yes, does the "up" work the same way? or is one ground, one 12V or both ground?

i would do this testing myself, but im not really sure how to do the testing.

thanks alot for any input!

The Window switch switches the ground and positive. That'* how it changes the motor direction for up and down. I'm sure you could hook it up but it would take a lot of work electrically to make everything work right.

here are some pictures from my old broken switch. maybe it can help you electronics gurus. after seeing the inside, im wondering if there is a way to identify which wires go to the windows.. doing that in theory at least, i should be able to activate them on the external (not in the switchboard) wires.

firstly if you hook up he lock output the right way to disable factory alarm it should send the signal for lights same as the unlock signal on the bus, unless you didnt hookup the data bus.

secondly it can be a function of the alarm for window up and down unless the alarm supports holding the button down but most just have a momentary output for trunk and locks. some have an aux output you would have to see what it has
