Smile Engine Cover series II 3800

I'm buying a '98 SE tonight, and it is minus the cover. Short of going to a bone yard, are these sold on the internet or locally?

Thanks!

There'* always someone selling one. Most people take them off because the engine looks nicer without it. But if you really want one, check the for sale area, there'* a few cars being parted out.

I disagree... I still have the cover on mine and the engine runs at a constant 180.

Yep, I sure did. Same result.. 180. I have ran it without the cover and had the same result. Like it was said before; Some like the look of the engine without the cover and some dont. My preference is to keep the cover on. With mine without a supercharger, the engine looks too cluttered. I will say; If mine did have a supercharger I would show it off!!

Now, back to the topic at hand. I found the part you need on ebay. Its from a 2001 3800 series II. But, I think that it may work for you.. Here'* the address: eBay Motors: ENGINE COVER 3800 SERIES II LESABRE 2001 (item 260340092967 end time Jan-30-09 09:23:43 PST)

thats interesting, i didn't have a tuner around to scan back then, i will look into it, i kept it off because i was told it held heat in, it was actually thought to be the cause of some L67 engine fires

eh $40 for an engine cover? check out www.moradpartscompany.com, give them a call and see, their ebay store isn't a half what they have

It'* more of a issue with higher performance cars. The trapped heat will give a little more KR. And every little of of KR reduction counts.
