Well..... If it was treated well in its short life it will not be a money pit. with this car you are getting one of the most reliable drive trains ever built.. take it for a ride when it comes in . have it looked at if it makes sense buy it if not give there number.

My personal car buying philosophy is this - If I can't afford what I really want - an Acura RL, Lexus, etc. - I go for the best Pontiac I can afford. Yeah, I know I'm going to face more repairs than average down the road, but they are cheap, cheap, cheap repairs versus those other cars. Plus, I simply can not stand to buy a cloned "everybody" car, e.g. Camry, Accord, Malibu. Pontiac still has distinctive styling, especially the GXP. I've been losing respect for GM engineering (not styling) for years, but the price of a one year old program car has always drawn me back. I wouldn't buy any GM with +60k miles, especially after my experience with my old Grand Prix, but that is just my opinion.
My GXP has been remarkable and my SSE has been very reliable (at least until it got to 120k miles; it had some issues, but now it is great).
Bottom Line: The performance on the GXP is awesome and the handling is unbelievable. And I thought my SSE was The Best Car Ever.

The only way to make the decision is to drive the car yourself and determine whether or not you like it.
All of our hot air really can't suffice for your own opinion about the car. What we can tell you is that is our opnions and our experiences with the GXP thus far. And on the whole people on this site who own GXPs love them.

Agree x2
Your own opinion is what really matters.
I have had my 05 GXP for about 18 months now. Although the few minor issues I have had were covered under warrenty I could have easily repaired them myself for minimal cost.
This car now has 42000 miles on it and each of those miles were driven with a smile on my face.
Gotta love the Bonneville!

IMO, 18k is just too much to pay for a 50k mile GXP with no warrantee. Shop around if you can. I know these cars are rare, but if you can wait and find the right one, you should be able to get a better deal.
For reference, I paid $23,500 for an ’05 (no sunroof though) with 7500 miles and over 2.5 years of factory warrantee left.
And yes, I love my GXP!

For reference / might help the author...
I bought my 04 in November last year. It had 25,9xx miles, no option left behind, balance of factory warranty. Paid under 18k but I live in a very different market from NY (I am assuming the person is in Suffolk, NY).
I have to think that you could really get the dealer down by going to cars.com and printing out comparable GXPs. $18k does seem a bit high, especially for a car that didn't sell well (because car buyers are morons ). And for God'* sake, it is a GM with 50k miles.
