A local dealer has a 2003 SSEI for sale. I am kind of looking at SSEIs and or GTPs. I noticed on the fender a nice badge that said Special Edition. I have not noticed that on other SSEIs I have seen. What does that add to the package? This one came with a sunroof and heated seats if that matters. I took it for a test drive. I thought it might feel too big (my daily is a 98 Maxima) but it wasn't bad. I did notice though a significant vibration at about 65mph on this 25k car. I wasn't able open it up fully because of traffic but is zipped right along very nicely. I want to compare it to a GTP now. I'm used to the tighter steering of the Max so I wonder if the GTP is more like that. The SSEI handled pretty good but I know it won't be like the Max. Thanks.

My guess is the tires took a good hit and now are out of balance. I wonder if those emblems are were put on after a paint or something.

I'm used to Jap fwd'* tightness. All my previous experiences with American fwd'* was that they just weren't as tight. My son'* 93 Olds Cutlas SL is better than others I've drivein but doen't compare to my old 87 Max wagon. They just seem to have it figured out better. I'm not hooked Jap cars though. I have a 87 Buick Turbo T with minor mods-12.5s if I get traction. Also had a 403 T/A that ran 13.4s on street radials.

The difference in steering is probably due to the fact that even the SSEi is geared more towrds being a luxury car than a race car.

Considering the target audience for the Bonne is guys in thier forites, who are probably done with their race car days and want a comfortable but fairly powerful car, then why put race car type steering onto them?

I wouldn't consider my wife'* Subaru GT wagon "racey" or my Max for that matter. The Japs just have a better feel for the road IMHO. I'm 45 so I guess I fit the GM profile for a Bonneville owner.

I've driven a 95' Max before and yes they are all around firm in the steering column. The Magnesteer in the SSEi will be lighter at low speeds, like say under 15mph. Its supposed to be like that to make parking easy. After that it will firm up greatly. My 97 LSS has Magnasteer 1 and the steering felt just as good as the Max at highway speeds. That 03' SSEi has Magnesteer II which should be better than mine. That means lighter in the parking lot and even firmer on the road.

You are comparing it to older cars. Like I said, you can firm up the Magnasteer electronically. That'* more customization than a Nissan offers.

You should have kept your T/A.

Bonne > Maxima still stands IMO.
