It all worked out for me last night when someone drained my RF tire compleatly flat. I didnt put my air hose back in my truck after last time i used it so i had no choice but to put the donut tire on, when i got the flat off i noticed right away that the wheel speed sensor cables were cut compleatly. So this morning befor changing the tire in my garage i got out the sodder and the iron and i fought with the wires. heres what i had , Two cut positive and negative cables comming from the car, and on the sensor i had no wires except tiny tiny little stubbs comming out of the sensor, so the negative wire i had enough wire to sodder and tape, then on the positive had almost no room at all so i stuffed a sewing needle in the speed sensor end of the positve, then i sodderd the CARS end of the positive to that, i started my car and bingo no ABS or Trac off lights illuminated on my dash!....so i taped everything up as best as i could and took it out on the street, i brought the car up to 40 mph on a gravel road and then i slammed on the brakes and immidently i felt the vibration in the peadle and the car came to a nice non skidding stop! The dealership told me after speding 1700 in labour and parts on brake modulator valve it would need an additional 1200 to replace the Traction computer and a wheel speed sensor, turns out obviously the traction computer works and so does that sensor. So if the the Trac and ABS lights ever come on again im taking the car to a local mechanic and having him spend some quality time running new wires out of the speed sensor so its done properly.
Anyways im kinda glad i had a flat tire which looks like someone just drained it on me because i had a large build up of brake dust and i could see finger prints and the valve cover was missing......so i aired it up this morning and the pressure hasnt changed at all.

The speed sensor is integrated with the wheel bearing. So if the MacGyver contraption doesn't hold up, you may have to replace the bearing or try to get at it a different way.

hmm with the right ammount of instructions i may do this my self some time....im not really into replacing the whole speed sensor but adding wires to it properly is defintally an option.

wow, good job Matt! Looks like I'm going to need to pull my rear wheels. I don't think my wires are completely cut but may be headed that way. My ABS and Traction lights only come on intermittenly. :?

the pig tale??? theres like two tiny little stubbs on the end of it which used to be wires....any ways how do i access the wheel speed sensor to take it out and sodder new wires inside of it so its done correctly?

well if i look in were the wires go into the hub i can see about 1 inch of wire that i can splice off of and soder new longer wire to it. Can i acess the hub with removing the wheel bearing, i mean if i wreck it i will replace it im just trying to save some money.

Thats why you always check the simpelest fix first before asuming you got to rush it right to the dealer and spend $1000 bucks!! you might surprise yourself.Good job!!
