They give them all the styling of a FAST car and they end up being slow. If I buy a sports car, it is not going to be a Slowstang(V6). If you want a sporty car but want some economy, get a import and save yourself a lot of cash.
I dont want to sound like a dick, but all of the muscle cars came with shitty engines like inline-6 (maybe even 4s ?) in base cars (at least for camaros when they were introduced. I know they have V-6s now.). They need to produce the slower cars because not enough people would buy a hard-core sports car. The car will seem more appealing to a broader customer base if it is cheaper, looks fast, and will be very drivable. The companies need sales from the weak cars to justify selling the hi-po models. only a third or less of camaro sales in a year are z28'*. Even fewer are ss models.
