Default going to look at a '99 SSEi... anything to look for?

Hey guys,

I'm looking to get a Bonne once again after a 15 year dry spell! I found an ad for a 1999 Maple Red Metalic SSEi with 112K, it sounds loaded up with HUD, Bose, sun/moon roof. Is there anything in particular I should look for?

Thanks in advance

Make sure the tranny is in good shape as is the color of the fluid. Rusting lines. Supercharger nose drive not making noise. Thats all I can think of just after midnight

Check to see if the 5 button pod on the console has Performance & Touring Ride buttons. If it does make sure that the light changes accordingly to the button you press... if both lights are on at the same time one or more struts are bad and the Computer Command Ride struts are no longer available.
These buttons would be right behind the traction control button.
Check under the throttle body and on the passenger side of the engine for signs of the Lower intake manifold gaskets failing. This is very common to have them go bad around 100k miles, sometimes sooner, sometimes way later (like in the case of my brother with 225k miles an Sonoma ZR2 who went 250k+ miles on his originals).
Also, with the key on, pop the trunk and near the latch, hit the on button -you should hear the air ride compressor kick in located under the car, near the right rear wheel.
That'* all that comes to mind at the moment... aside from what was already mentioned above.

Overall look and feel of the car is important. Check the lower intake manifold/side of the engine for signs of leakage. Use that to negotiate the price down and then change gaskets for around $200.

Overall, there aren't tons of things to be on the lookout for, look for rust problems, fluid colors, tires, brakes. The normal things.

South Haven, MN huh? You weren't coming to look at my 99 SSEi in Sauk Centre, MN were you? You might want to wait until the end of the weekend.... the car is immobile until the new transmission is installed tomorrow or Saturday. :(

Hey OLBlueEyes,

Small world! nice to see another "Minnesodan"
No I didn't know you had one for sale... this one is waaaay far away - close to the WI border.

Maybe I should wait and look at yours, it wouldn't happen to be Maple Red Metallic...would it? I gotta have that color!!
