Default 40th Anniversary SSEI????

I wonder if someone could offer up a few more tips to distinguish the 1997 40th Anniversary SSEI. From what I had seen here, indications are that it must have Y40 in the VIN to be one of the 637 'rare' models.

I went to see a 1997 SSEI that was for sale today and it was an SSEI with the 40th Anniversary badges on the C pillars. It was Dark Cherry in colour with the tan interior. There did not seem to be anything about this car other than the badges to say it was 'special'.

Also, the VIN does not contain Y40. Is there anything notable about this car? Any tips would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Thanks for clearing that up jr's3800. I had looked on the RPO page and didn't see it listed there, I had understood Y40 should be in the VIN.

What makes the Y40 so special, besides the limited numbers of them?

Cheers,

40th Anniversary emblems in the the front floor mats

Other than these I am unaware.

Cool, thanks for the info guys. I did make an offer on the car and I'm waiting to hear back.

It had some surging or misfiring at higher rpms so I low balled the offer a bit until until the car gets scanned. Might be good to have an L67 once agin

You're on it, man. I think the only thing that would be cooler is a 40th SC SE. Now THAT would be rare.

did SE'* get the special badges too? I know I've seen a purple one around here w/ an SE body with those 40th badges on the rear pillars; actually, that'* what gave me the idea of putting ponitac insignia'* on mine an the word "bonneville" undernith them.

40th SE'* are the most common. If you can call them common.
