It might be a little over due. I usually average about 4000k miles or so.

Junkyard engine prices are the same whether its a 4 banger or a V8. $162 for a fully dressed engine vs around $75 for just a short block, which is just the only thing I need.

Might be the only thing you need. Buttttttt looking at my costs. Head gaskets are $35 each side, plus bolts $30ish, and you are right back at longblock. Why not get fully dressed and have even more spare parts (you seem to eat them as breakfast ).

Yeah that 4000 "ish" is what I see in your motor. I'd probably suggest pulling it back to 3000-3500 miles to keep any deposits from forming in the engine. But them I'm over the top on oil changes and expect the engine to run like it'* overmaintained.

If I get a fully dressed engine, I have to either return my entire engine, or eat the $30 core charge. Which means no spare parts. Unless I don't return my engine.

Only a $30 core charge? I definitely wouldn't bother with returning the core

Went to the junkyard yesterday, spent only 3 hours pulling a short block out of a 99 SSE. Paid $50 for it. And they never even asked if I had my core. Shoulda kept my mouth shut because I could have kept my core and taken it to the scrap yard. Dummy!

Spent most of Saturday cleaning up the new block, and putting things back on. Ended up going back to the junkyard because I was missing a bolt. I go and grab the crankshaft position sensor and voila! Found the missing bolt. It, along with the other one was with the sensor. Ughh! Dummy.

Finally got everything buttoned up today. It runs finally!! Have a slight miss in the higher rpm'*. 3 times I got a P0302/ #2 misfire. Gotta dig into that one today.

Would have posted pics and stuff, but I was in fast reassemble mode. With it being a weekend and not really wanting to ride my bike back to work on Monday I had to get things done asap. Plus, today is the wifes b-day. I'd be in the dog house if I spent all day working on this car.

Well done Mike. Many folks love to see pictures, and don't quite realize how much longer it takes to do the work when you have to clean up, fire up the camera, take 5 shots and get back to work. Then do it again and again.

When I'm in cruise mode...there are no pics unless it'* a big or oddball item.
