3rd engine, coming up!
On our way up to Williamson, NY to see the races at Spencer Speedway, when 19 miles from our destination, we hear a lound bang, smoke out the rear end and the engine dies. After pulling over, I notice oil on the front side of the engine and a piece of bolt sitting in the engine cradle. Looks like a piece of the connecting rod bolt. The ones that go from fine thread to course thread. I'll post a pic of it tomorrow.
Been a long night. 80 miles to have it towed back home.
I'm not looking forward to pulling 2 engines again! I'm getting too old for this crap.dh2

I've lost track of how many times I've pulled this engine. Hmmmm....this will be the 5th time. Now why can't I have a spare engine in the garage right next to the already spare trans. Now if it was the transmission that went, I would already have a spare engine in the garage. How'* that for Murphy'* Law?!

I had to do some digging around last night to figure this one out.
1st, this engine originally came out of a 97 b-ville from the junkyard serveral years ago. It was put into my 95 when it had 195000miles. Then when I got the black 97, the engine was donated from the white 95 to the 97. Doing some math here and there, about 205000 miles.
So, in total, that engine was in 3 different B-villes. It was a 97 block, but all the accessories were 95.

Here'* a pic of a completley assembled piston and connecting rod.
To the right of the connecting rod, you can see the full length of a connecting rod end cap bolt. And to the right of that, you can see the half bolt that I found sitting in the engine cradle just below the starter.
Once I get the car back into my driveway(sometime today) I can begin tear down. Considering I will have plenty of time to do this, pictures will be free flowing.
Planning on removing the engine piece by piece. Kinda hafta anyway because I'm going to get a shortblock from the junkyard probably next weekend. Then all I have to do is swap my accessories, heads, intake etc over to the new block. Plus, my engine stand is being used by the spare trans in the garage.
