Default 8 hours of pure torture

Yesterday I replaced the waterpump, hoses, spark plugs, wires. took 8 hours total. The waterpump was pure hell. I have to take off the motor mount and all. I woke up today feeling like I was hit by a bus. I replaced the spark plug wires too with MSD wires.

Next week or so I am replacing the Fuel filter, O2 Sensor, and rear brakes. I also have to do some under coating.

The motor mount coming off took the longest, the scraping off the old gasket took second longest. It was a horrible job. I was slowing town towards the end from being tired which put me behind another hour. Plus I put the mount on and tightened the bolts before I put the water pump pulley back on, so I had to take and move the mount again. Then I lost a bolt, and was taking time looking for it in the grass.

When I replaced the water pump on my '93 SSEi, as I recall it took about 6 or 6 1/2 hours just to replace the water pump. It wasn't an easy job, and a mechanic at the dealer said that the water pump on the supercharged series I engine was up near the top of the list of being the most difficult and time consuming to replace. Scraping the old gasket from mine took a while too.

But I thought replacing the water pump on an SE was a lot easier than on the supercharged version...maybe the only difference is that on the SE you don't have to remove the large accessory bracket like you do on the supercharged version.

Anyway, I bet you're glad that it'* over, huh?
