Default 2895 miles later...

So after dropping more money than I probably should have on the SSEi, I do my first oil change after my buildup and see this:

Although proven to mean squat in Ed McGrath'* case, I've got plenty of oil pressure. I hear no odd sounds aside from the expected valvetrain noise associated with comp cams lifters, higher rate valvesprings, and headers. I suppose that could be covering up anything starting to develop down low though. Engine has 108k on it.

I'm sending a sample into Blackstone Labs to really see what'* going on, but it doesn't look promising.

So,
1) Drop in a "new" L67 and swap performance parts over
2) Drop in a "new" L67, demod to sell parts, and cut my losses (I should be saving for a house anyways)
3) Buy an L32 and go nuts with stage 3 cam and heads and utilize the performance parts I already have.

I don't even feel like touching this thing for a while and I don't plan to drive it anytime soon either. Thank god I didn't sell my other car. FUN right?

Or maybe just change your LIM gaskets?

Am I missing something here?

New metal LIM gaskets were done with the cam install. I guess the focus wasn't perfect. Those swirls are sparkly.

this is why I dont want to put a cam in my car. I know I'll screw something up when I have it apart.

Haha, nice link Andrew.

Ok I finally got one to focus. Reminds me of nail polish (not a good thing, but it looks pretty, right??)

Bob I hope everything works out with the motor. I know the feeling all to well my friend I'm yet to even tear into my old L67 I have it on a stand in the shop, I want to pull it apart before I go to Intense in the next few days. This thread is making me nervous as I'm planning on doing my first oil change on the L32 this weekend as it'* oil has 1k on it ( I want to flush out all the different assembly lubes and such I used when the cam went in.)

[edit] I agree with Andrew; fix it if there is a problem, enjoy all the more when it'* done. When we are old we might not be able to play with cars like this.

Let me know if you need any advice or help with anything.

Ed
