As I posted earlier:
According to Intense Racing, stock GTP'* from '97 to '03 average about 14.8 sec in the 1/4 mile.
According to Pontiac (test data by the SCCA), the 2004 GTP with the Comp G package does the 1/4 mile in 15.015 seconds.
Based on AD Bear’* info, the above numbers seem far from accurate. My 2000 SSEi did 15.069 seconds in the 1/4 mile. It seems outrageous to think that a lighter car with 20 more horsepower would not even beat me by a tenth of a second in the 1/4 mile.
I test drove a black 2004 GTP with the Comp G package when they first came out. It is a pretty nice car. I certainly don’t think that it is as sexy or well-appointed as an SSEi, but it’* darn pretty fast. And, it felt like it was a little bit faster than my SSEi off the line, probably because of the lighter weight.

yeah, I won't be doing that often...took me like 45 seconds to get from Dixie road/West Mall to Hwy10...
The speed governor is at 235 kph or 140 mph...so what you see on the speedo is what you get

The fastest I've gotton the Max was 130mph. I could have done more but there was a car coming on to my lane and I had to slow down fast. I know that car has to do more than 140 mph even though the dash says 160. I couldn't evn imagine doing 160 though.

That would explain why the 04'* are slower than the 03'*.
Possibly the only 03'* that Rice burning Maxima beat were Normally Aspirated.

Where do you people find an empty stretch of safe road to do this? The fastest I ever drove a car was 120 and the hood started to ripple. The glovebox blew open and scared the crap out of me. Then the windows started to rattle and I slowed down in a hurry. Granted this was a 79 cutlass but still, thats some speed on a public road. A blow out at 148 on a highway is probably a sure death...
