The altima 3.5 is a pretty quick car. He did probably lose some torque on the exhaust. But I believe our torque is higher than theirs, thus the good takeoff. I do not believe there is much of a weight difference as the newer altimas are fairly heavy.

The 3.5'* rule indeed. From Motorweek (or Autoweek? :P )'* road test, they were able to get a manual 3.5 SE to 60mph in five point nine seconds. Yeah, 5.9. Other mags I've seen have gotten low sixes. Automatics, however, I've seen the fastest in the very low seven'*, 7.3 at the most.

Good kill, nonetheless

Other than my Bonny, I've got a '98 Altima in my driveway, unfortunately it'* the Altima before it got some balls. It only came with a 150 (155 for later models)hp 2.4L motor. It'* decent around town, manual gets to 60 in about 8, automatics about nine. It has low end, and is buzzy up high. Handling is ok. Ride is ok. Reliability is better than most... but ok. Styling is ok. This car is so damned boring

Driver skills matter too, and I don't remember reading anywhere whether it'* a manual or automatic

Other magazines, with a manual 3.5SE, got low to mid sixes in the 60mph sprint.

I just noticed, the Altima lost to an '01 SE? Doesn't make too much sense anymore
